Educational and training background
Vanessa van der Horst studied Constitutional, Administrative and Criminal Law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. During her studies, she conducted research at the The Hague Police into the outcome of discrimination cases within the criminal justice chain.
Experience
Vanessa started her career as a legal court secretary at the Utrecht District Court. Afterwards she worked as a staff lawyer for the Council for the Judiciary. Since 2009, she has worked in various (coordinating) positions within the Public Prosecution Service in Utrecht and has gained special experience in the investigation and prosecution of Opium Act offenses and anti-terror and anti-money laundering cases.

With thorough knowledge and experience from both investigation and judicial practice, Vanessa knows how to set clear lines for an effective defense in criminal cases.

General practice
This registration obliges her to obtain ten training credits in each registered legal area in accordance with the standards of the Netherlands Bar every calendar year.
